Steps:

1. Start by cleaning the wall to remove any dust and debris.
2. Apply painter’s tape on both the wall and the cabinet.
3. Mix with water, if you have powdered wood filler.
4. Fill the gap with wood filler. Push the wood filler in the gap with the help of fingers.
5. Let it dry for some time and then remove the painter’s tape.
6. Sand the wood filler to get a smooth surface and paint if needed.

Method 2: Using Caulk

The second method to fill the gap is the use of caulk. It is the cheapest and easiest way to fill gaps. By using caulk you can fill gaps up to about 1/4 of an inch.

Steps:

1. Start by cleaning the wall to remove any dust and debris.
2. Apply painter’s tape around the gap to create a clean line.
3. Cut the bead of the caulk as small as the gap.
4. Put the caulk tube into the caulk gun and apply the caulk to the gap.
5. Clean any excess caulk around the gap by using a damp cloth.
6. Remove the painter’s tape after the caulk dries completely.

Method 3: Using Expanding Foam Filler

Expanding foam is another method to fill the gap between cabinet and wall. If the gap between the cabinet and the wall is wider than 1 inch, this method is best to fill it. By using expanding foam, you can fill gaps up to 3 inches.

Steps:

1. First purchase an expanding foam filler can from a hardware store.
2. Remove the cap and screw the applicator nozzle on the valve of the can.
3. Gently shake the can for 15 seconds before applying.
4. Spray some water to moisten the wall around the gap.
5. Apply filler from bottom to top of gap. Don’t overfill, foam will expand to fill the gap.
6. Read the manufacturer’s instructions and wait to dry the foam completely.
7. Once the foam is dried, cut the extra foam by using a saw and sand it.

Method 4: Using Scribe Molding

The use of scribe molding is another way to fill gaps around the cabinets. It can be helpful to cover gap between cabinet and floor. The scribe moldings come in various widths, purchase one according to the gap measurements.

Steps:

1. By using measuring tape, measure the width of the gap from top to bottom.
2. Cut the width of scribe molding according to the smallest wide measurement of the gap.
3. Push the scribe molding into the gap by slightly hammering it.
4. Ensure that the scribe molding is set flat with the edges of the cabinet.
5. Secure the scribe molding with the cabinet by using nails or screws.

Method 5: Using Cabinet Fillers

If the gap between the cabinet and wall is wider than 3 inches, this method will fix it perfectly. Cabinet fillers can also be used to hide gaps between cabinets and other home appliances as you can hide gap between dishwasher and cabinet with the help of these fillers.

Steps:

1. Find a wooden cabinet filler wider and longer than the gap.
2. Cut a piece from this filler at the same width as the filler.
3. Allign filler to the outer edge of the cabinet and secure it by using clamps.
4. To draw a line on the filler, move a filler piece along the wall and filler with a pencil
5. Now the side of the filler which is on the wall side is trash and the other is to fill the gap.
6. Cut the filler and secure it to the cabinet by using cabinet screws to fill the gap.
